Building a Legacy: The Montrose Veterans Memorial

Honoring Those Who Served

In communities across America, veterans memorials stand as lasting tributes to the brave men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. In Montrose, Colorado, a dedicated team is working tirelessly to create a new Montrose Veterans Memorial, ensuring that the sacrifices of those who defended our freedoms are never forgotten.

In a special episode of the Baskis 360 Podcast, host Steve Baskis speaks with Les Williams and Jay Bob Bruce, two key leaders from the Montrose Veterans Memorial Coalition (MVMC). Together, they share the vision behind this memorial, the progress made so far, and how the local community can help bring this meaningful project to life.

The Vision Behind the Memorial

The Montrose Veterans Memorial will feature laser-engraved granite panels depicting military history from World War I through the Global War on Terror. Designed as a place of reflection, remembrance, and education, the memorial will provide a powerful space for veterans, families, and future generations to honor those who served.

Thanks to the dedication of the MVMC, the project has gained support from both Montrose County and the City of Montrose, and a new location has been secured near the Montrose Botanical Gardens, offering breathtaking views of the San Juan Mountains.

How the Project is Being Funded

The memorial’s construction relies entirely on donations and community support. Fundraising efforts are ongoing, with a goal of $100,000 to cover the manufacturing and shipping of the memorial’s granite panels.

One of the most impactful ways to contribute is by purchasing a memorial brick for $125. Each brick allows for three lines of personalized text and will be placed at the memorial plaza, creating a permanent tribute to a loved one or veteran.

How You Can Help

If you’d like to support this meaningful project, here’s how you can get involved:

  • Donate or purchase a memorial brick at MontroseVMC.us
